I have sent following mail to director_eea@ie india.org,exams@ieindia.org plz u also do the same [[Dear sir, question paper of AD303 (Winter 2013) is not as per exam pattern specified by IEI sylabus. There were too many programming questions. Also some theoratical questions were out of sylabus. Dear sir, How can you expect a civil/mechanica/electrical engineer to pass such exam. This is my humble request on behalf of those thaousands of students to please look into this matter and give us grace marks to pass. Please save our precious one year.plz Think about those thousands of students who are not geting entry in section B just because of AD303. We will be very thankful to you.

I can understand your feelings. But I have some other views about the same. While compared with some of the previous year questions, I don't think that W2013 has more number of programs. If we start expecting dilutions in question papers we are indirectly start diluting the course and its values. Then AMIE would become an another University Degree which is completely low in standards.

As far as programming parts for non CS guys are concerned, I would like to bring some points for your reference. Programming is nothing but applying logics, Strategies and techniques to solve a problem. An engineer (irrespective of the branch he/she choose) must surely have a good logical and analytical ability to solve any problem by providing right solution (from many possible solutions based on efficiency, suitability to a context etc. is an another level higher than just providing solutions). Many of you might know that in IT companies [India], not only CS and IT guys are working in programming. Mechanical, Civil, Material Science, and even from other engineering majors are full time IT employees in our country. How come this would be possible for them to survive then? My intention to give this reply is not to hurt or underestimate anyone, but to encourage you guys.

Please choose one book for C and one for C++. Try to learn the language constructs. If possible just join in an institute near to your residence/work place. You don't have to spend tens of thousands of rupees for that. As this degree is eq. to engineering degree, there is absolutely nothing wrong in spending a small amount to get a practical exposure with a guidance from a faculty for just one subject. Just same as a full time engineering student spend his/her laboratory classes in a college. Buy "Mastering C Programs" and "Mastering C++ Programs" by J.B. Dixit (Firewall media, Laxmi Publications) where you can found 100's of small programs with output shown. Solutions for most of the programming problems asked in IE examinations can be found from these books. The same author has written Programming Language books for both C and C++ (to learn language syntax and constructs). All of these books are not so popular countrywide, thereby not gained many people's attention. (I am not a publisher, author or relative of any of them; Not recommending these books for promoting their sales);

I made a huge research on available books in the market. At last I found that the above mentioned books are perfect fit for people who are suffering from Programming phobia. I have a huge personal library and bought the above 4 books (programming language learning books + collection of programs books) to add to my library. Just search by author name in flipkart or amazon. Just order and forget about your worries about this paper as far as programming part is concerned.

For non programming parts I can recommend the following books.
1. FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTERS by V.RAJARAMAN (PHI - Prentice Hall of India)
2. Basics of Computer Science by Behrouz A. Forouzan and Mostafavi (Cengage Learning India Pvt Ltd)

Both are excellent books that cover remaining (non programming) topics in simple, and easy to understand manner. If you order through online portals you will get bigger discounts. (Cost of these books are very less). Spending for these books are not a waste and they can be used as reference for future.

All the very best!! Cheers!!
