Hi ankit,

according to syllabus there is two group. Group A and Group B.
In each paper there is three group...Group A,B & C. Group A & B are Subjective type. Where Group C is short answer type.
You have to answer two question from each group .
Group A- 2x20=40

Q. Discuss the stages in engineering design process with the help of example?
A. The Design Process is a sequence of events that help to define the stages of Design and unfold the design in a systematic manner.
Now we take example of washing machine.
NEED: Need should be identified by
- Customer Request
- Modification possible in existing washing machine.
Customer’s request is that, it can be washer, drier and presses type.
GOAL: In this process, designer defines what must be done to resolve the need.
MARKET ANALYSIS: In this stage the Design team can get the information what others are doing in solving the same problem.
FUNCTIONS: It is important to determine product function structure before completing the Design.
SPECIFICATIONS: In this stage we provide additional clarification for Need Statement. Time required for washing, drying, amount of water required, power consumption, weight and size of the washing machine etc.
CONCEPTUALIZATIONS: Development of basic concept of washing machine, e.g. how it loosen the dirt (by adding water and detergent).
Separate dirt (by agitation)
Remove Dirt (by rinsing)
Remove water (by spinning)
Dry clothes (by trembling)
Smoothen Clothes (by pressing)
CONCEPT SELECTION AND EVALUATING ALTERNATIVES: In this stage we produce more than one artifact that will satisfy the need, e.g. we develop different types of agitators, spinning devices etc.
ANALYSIS: We analysis the different types of components of machine by considering technological, economical and manufacturing considerations along with modeling and simulation.
EXPERIMENTATION AND PROTOTYPING: After getting best amongst all alternatives we develop prototype and do different experiment on it.
MARKETING AND SALES: At last product will be ready for manufacturing and then for marketing.
